1) Campaigns/Field Paralegal Based at the LRC-Ksk CDO Office The Campaigns/Field Paralegal will assist in extending the Center’s services to partner communities including support groups and networks by providing input and assistance in providing information and analysis for the development of the Center’s advocacies, as well as the advocacies of its community partners. Duties & Responsibilities: Conducts fieldwork to communities being serviced by the Center. Conducts paralegal trainings and briefings for communities, support groups and networks. Provides initial assessment for possible acceptance of new communities. Prepares community profiles and strategy papers . Provides inputs and assists in the formation of community paralegal teams. Maintains internal filing of community documents Leads in the conceptualization and coordination of c.ommunity-specific campaign plans on relevant local issues and Center advocacies. Leads in the conceptualization of press forums at the local level. Draft statements of the Center’s position on specific community issues and concerns. Liaisons with local media. Network with non-government organizations and other local formations. Attends various forms/meetings in furtherance of deeper understanding of legal issues relevant to the communities Manages and maintains a database of local support groups, networks and media. Manages and maintains the audio-visual library. Maintains relations and liasons with communities and networks. Attends and participates in all internal team meetings and staff development workshops. Performs all other tasks as may be assigned by the RO-TL and Executive Director.
Job Specifications: Must be a graduate of any 4-year course. Has at least three (3) years work experience in campaigns and media work . With knowledge of Indigenous Peoples issues and other issues of the Center. With demonstrated skills in writing and communication. Team player and able to relate well with people.
Requirements: With demonstrated skills in writing. Familiarity with laws and policies related to advocacy issues related to indigenous peoples’ rights, forestry, mining and land issues Willingness to go on field and community visits A team player and able to relate well with people With a 6-month fixed term contract ( extendible to 1 year pending performance evaluation).
2) Law Paralegal Based at the LRC-KsK CDO Office Job Summary: The Law Paralegal will assist in extending the Center’s services to partner communities including local support groups and networks by providing input and assistance in providing legal support to community partners. Duties : Conducts fieldwork to communities being serviced by the Center. Conducts paralegal trainings and briefings for communities, support groups and networks. Provides initial assessment for possible acceptance of new communities. Prepares community profiles and strategy papers. Assist the Regional Team Leader in coordinating with local lawyers retained by the Center. Assists the Regional Lawyer in handling cases. Conducts legal research on specific topics as requested by partner communities and networks and provides appropriate recommendations. Review laws and jurisprudence related to cases being handled by the Regional Office . Draft legal papers such as opinions and options papers. Participates/facilitates discussions with community partners and local support groups pertaining to legal options and strategies . Provides inputs and assists in the formation of community paralegal teams . Maintains internal filing of case documents. Manages and maintains the legal library.

3) REGIONAL LAWYER Based at the LRC-KsK Davao Office The Regional Lawyer will assist in extending the Center’s services to partner communities including support groups and networks by providing input and assistance in the Center’s Direct Legal Services. S/he also will also handle the legal cases of the Regional Office. Duties and Responsibilities: Assists and provides substantial inputs in developing legal strategies as well as in strengthening of the Center’s legal servicing Handles the legal cases of the Regional Office Conducts legal research on specific topics as requested by partner communities and networks and provides appropriate recommendations Leads in the discussions with community partners and local support groups pertaining to legal strategies and options Reviews laws and jurisprudence related to cases being handled by the Regional Office Conducts paralegal trainings and briefings for community partners, support groups and networks Assists the Regional Team Leader in coordinating with local lawyers retained by the Center Participates and provides substantial inputs in the preparation of the program for the community paralegal teams (CPLTs) Provides inputs and assists in the legal capacity-building of paralegal staff Attends various forms/meetings in furtherance of deeper understanding of legal issues relevant to the communities Supervises the management of case documents Maintains relations and liaisons with communities and networks Attends and participates in all internal team meetings and staff development workshops Performs all other tasks as may be assigned by the RO-TL and Executive Director
Requirements: Must have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law, and has passed the Bar examinations With knowledge of rural development issues and the advocacy issues related to indigenous peoples’ rights, forestry, mining and land issues. With demonstrated skills in legal research and writing With demonstrated skills in developing legal strategies and options Willingness to go on field and community visits Team player and able to relate well with people
